If you’re noticing that there is a disproportionate number of ginger molasses cookies featured here, well, it’s because I have a disproportionate love of ginger molasses cookies.  Because ginger molasses cookies are fucking awesome.

I don’t really have a whole lot of fresh adjectives to throw at you with regard to the ginger molasses cookie at Pearl Bakery, but it is too consistent and superior not to include amongst its counterparts. Deep, dark, chewy, molasses-y: this is probably almost exactly the way I described Crema’s version (okay, I just checked – and  yeah, pretty close). The reason for this is, obviously, that the two are remarkably similar – both visually and with regard to flavor and texture.  Both have a slightly crisp exterior that gives way to a soft, pliable and slightly moist center.  Pearl’s has less crackling fault lines upon its surface than Crema’s,  but I’m not sure this has any actual effect on the taste.

Note to self: conduct a side-by-side tasting of the two so that I can pinpoint some of the finer nuances that distinguish the respective cookies from one another. Stay tuned for my findings.

Bottom line?  I’ve had it before and I’ll have it again. “Hey good cookie!  I’ll be back to pick YOU up later.”
