Little T Baker
2600 SE Division St. – Portland
$2

I stopped by Little T today for the first time in a few months – only because I don’t get over to this neighborhood (during cookie hours) so often – not because I don’t think it’s a fine, fine bakery. (It is.)

I saw this cookie in the case, unlabeled. The lady described it to me as a snickerdoodle with chai spices, so…that’s what I’m calling it. It’s possible, however, that it has an official (and different) name.

But here’s what I know for sure: it is GOOD, guys!

Texture: slightly crisp exterior, doughy and moist (not one bit crumbly) on the inside. I usually slowly savor my cookie and often take half of it home in its little paper sack. That did not happen today; I  kind of inhaled it. And now I kind of (really) want another one. Crap.

Taste: Frankly, I find the classic snickerdoodle less than compelling. And more often than not, way too cakey. But with the addition of what I’m guessing is cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg and…(what else? Cloves? Orange zest?) and the aforementioned doughiness, this version totally wins.

There’s also some nice shredded coconut in there.

Good one!

(I know I said it’s not one bit crumbly and even though this photo contradicts this by showing 2 actual crumbs, I’m standing by that statement. It’s way more moist than it looks. I promise.)
